This is your calling. Reminding us of good stuff that lives in our hearts and often just beyond the reach or our words. Thanks for calling our attention to stuff that all to often goes unnoticed. I hope there is someway that Doug gets to read this tribute. Can Regular Rob make that happen, It needs to.

Not only a rock in the clubhouse, but his headline-grabbing race to Fenway and changing into his uni in the police cruiser in 2006 to catch Wakey against the Yanks....classic TRUE Red Sox. His quotes about never wanting to be traded away and having his heart in Boston, following the Sox on ESPN every day....he is a Red Sox through and through and belongs in the Sox Hall of Fame along with the rest of the 2004 and 2007 teams. His value was in catching the fluttering knuckler, and purportedly in the clubhouse. He also had a long tenure with the club, and won't be forgotten by Red Sox Nation. Thanks for being part of it, Doug!

What about that triumphal return to the team after Josh Bard had proven he could not catch the knuckler? He was indispensible to Wake's success and to the wins he racked up. WHO will catch Wake now? (Wasn't Mirabelli a codicil to Wake's contract? ) He made Wakefield truly dangerous. Now we'll cross our fingers when anyone's on the basepaths....

Mirabelli caught game 1 of the World Series in 2004. Everyone on that team belongs somewhere in the Red Sox hall of fame (even those who left for the Evil Empire). Mirabelli will be missed as much as we all missed Gabe Kapler.
