I was at this game as well and I have to agree it was the greatest game I have ever attended. I am glad I found this article because being in the 9th grade at the time and this being so many years ago, I had forgotten some of the details over the years. Although many fans left early when the Sox were down, I am happy to say we stayed until the end. Thank you for helping me re-live such a great childhood memory.

Great description! Feels like I was there!!
I am remembering a game something like that from my teen years--having moved down to the royal seats from standing room and watching Butch Hobson score in the 13th on an inside-the-park homerun. (Am I conflating games?? I remember Butchy only 20 feet from us, scrambling around third, as surprised to still be running as we all were...Was it the winning run? )
